Chocolate V’s Vanilla

Ohhh yes that age old question, Chocolate or Vanilla.

Usually its pretty easy, chocolate wins hands down! I mean who doesn’t like or enjoy chocolate?

In the Benevita world, there are a few notable differences between the two shakes.

Vanilla:

  • Thin consistency in both powder form and when mixed with water
  • Odd aftertaste
  • Made me, might be different for others, more thirsty
  • Tastes and smells like Vanilla

Chocolate:

  • Thicker consistency in both powder form and when mixed with water
  • Tastes and smells like chocolate

Ok, so I may be a little biased as Im a huge chocolate fan, but on the whole, they both taste great, and they’re both filling IE I’m not hungry after drinking.

I did notice I was more thirsty on Vanilla days, and I have a feeling this has something to do with the consistency.

To keep things fair, I used the same amount of water for both (300ml) and on the odd day I wanted to blend in a banana I did. I noticed that the vanilla shake tends to be a little frothy  but still has a water like texture even when blended. Chocolate in contrast is thicker and more “shake like”

I think as far as differences go, the main issue for me was the extra thirst with the Vanilla shake. Other than that, they both taste great and do the trick.

Give them both a try and let me know what you think!

Kicking things off…again

Hi All,

So, I have restarted the Benevita challenge. The plan is, to monitor how I feel, and most importantly if it does actually help with any weight loss.

I have decided to take up T25 (for those of you that don’t know, this is a fitness programme by Sean T – the man behind..well in front and training, Insanity) its a 10 week programme consisting of 25 min workouts a day.

Ive been feeling a little negative recently, mainly because I’ve not been well, which has stopped me from working out and lead to comfort eating, which has also meant I’ve put on a bit of weight.

It may not be VERY visible, but I know its there.

So the plan is to draw up a schedule/ planner, and plan my meals throughout the day – this should stop me reaching for the bad stuff whenever I feel hungry.

What I do find strange….I keep fruit on the kitchen table, so its visible, and so ill eat more fruit instead of biscuits. My brain tends to blur out the fruit it doesn’t even see it on the table when I get the sweet craving.

I know the journey to being fitter will not be easy, and its not just a case of trying to do things differently, I have to actually reprogram my brain, so that it sees the fruit and not the biscuits. Bad habits die hard, and good ones are harder still to form. But heres to trying!

This quote from Mark Caine seems quite fitting for todays post: “The first step toward success is taken when you refuse to be a captive of the environment in which you first find yourself.”

1 month on…

So, Ive been a little lapse for a while, I feel like I spent the whole of January in bed sick, and this has gotten me down a little as I’ve not been able to achieve any of the things I wanted to.

So I had to put the Benevita challenge on hold whilst I recovered. I had to do this for two reasons; 1) I was feeling sick and I know if I feel sick whilst taking something I wouldn’t usually be taking, I would never touch it again (wasted time and money) and 2) I had to be sure that it wasn’t the Benevita that was making me sick 😐 (when you introduce something new into your diet, your body can react in weird ways)

Thankfully, its not the Benevita.

I have been trying to eat “clean” (whatever that means) Avocado on toast, poached eggs etc. BUT I have also had a major break and have eaten a lot of sugary stuff too.  It makes me feel better when I am not well 🙂

I do think its time to get back on track, and I took advantage of the Benevita January offers and got 2 for 1 on the shakes (wooohooo) This is still on, and if you’re interested please click here Remember to click on wellness this will take you through to the Benevita page.

So I will be back with the challenge from Monday (valentines week – I know Im weird) and I’m hoping to be fit/ well enough to do some workouts too – T25 here I come!

“Tough times never last, but tough people do” – I have let being sick get me down, its time to pick myself up and get back to where I want to be.

Cold and Flu (& Benevita)

So, a lot to catch up on.

I had my time of the month last week, which unfortunately had me bedridden for a couple of days. (Note to all – The vitamins and minerals seem to have helped with PMS, but not actual menstrual pain).

The pain factor could be non related, as last month I was very stressed out, which led to being late/ having no pain and I was early this month and in a lot of pain – Lets see how it is next month I guess.

I haven’t taken any of the vitamins or the shake for the last couple of days as I have been unwell. (Everything likes to happen at once with me 🙂 ) But I’m hoping to be back on it tomorrow. (warm water shake anyone?)

I get sick maybe once a year, and its usually pretty bad, so I’m hoping this is my one time sickness and I’m done for the year 🙂 that would make me very happy.

As I left it I was going to start working out – I tried a session of the Sean T Hip hop abs, and to be honest it wasn’t really for me. So on Saturday I tried T25 – this is 25 mins of interval training, and I really enjoyed it. I felt like I worked out and it felt goooood. The plan was…to start this week, but thats gone out of the window slightly due to this evil cold I have.

I would have thought, with all the vitamins and minerals in the Benevita shakes and tablets that it would be very difficult to get sick, but thats not the case – its not a miracle cure I guess and once the dreaded flu or cold is in the household it spreads like wildfire.

My measurements will be late this week, to take into account the days I didn’t take my shakes. Again I don’t think there will be a drastic change, but half an inch a week isn’t bad going I think?  And like I said taking the vitamin tablets alone has made me feel great so I will be continuing on this journey with Benevita.

They actually have some great offers at the moment, if anyone is interested please click here

“Change your thoughts and you change your world.” – I honestly believe in this, positive thinking is a great thing and will leave you feeling good too. Leave the negativity in 2016 and move on to a bigger better 2017 and beyond!

Heres to feeling better soon!

Day 12 – 2 weeks in Benevita

So two weeks in, I feel like I should do end of week measurements too…(to see if I put anything on over the weekend….can it happen that quickly?)

I missed breakfast….like food breakfast today.  Maybe on days like this I should have the shake for lunch?

The thirst has died down, I am drinking more…water, tea….hot chocolate 😐

Its been a good two weeks I think, I feel the change in my energy I want to do things and I feel more motivated to do things. My main struggle is getting out of bed in the morning, and I find when its cold, not matter how motivated I feel….my bed just won’t let me get up.

I feel more positive, and I’m happier for it. I hope that I’m spreading the positivity to the rest of my family.  I would like to do a class in mindfulness – I think this is key in influencing your outlook on life. (perhaps in the new year).

The lemon water definitely helps settle my stomach in the mornings and this is something I try to do everyday. I do find that I’m fuller for longer, and sometimes I’m fuller quicker….however….yesterday evening I did get a little peckish before bed…and I had a chocolate truffle…..its the festive season I’m allowed!

My meals have been more or less the same as what I was eating before the plan….maybe more salads – but I enjoy them so its not really a problem. I would like to add more variety into my meals though. Cottage cheese has become one of my staples – I LOVE IT!

I feel like I need to make better food choices still, but being at home with my parents makes that a little hard, especially when they bring temptation into the house (did someone say chocolate gateaux?) But its all a work in progress.

All in all, from day 1 to day 12, I’m feeling more energetic, I have more energy and I feel positive which is great for me, as I used to feel tired all the time. And try as I might to be positive, something would always knock it and and be negative nora again…now its only two weeks and this could change and I could be a negative nora again….but for now I’m enjoying it.

The real test for me is period week. (TMI??) I know its probably hard for most girls, but for the last few years my PMS has been especially bad. Anything sets me off. I almost killed my brother once because I left my mouse for my laptop at work. I am hoping the influx of vitamins and minerals helps to balance my hormones and if it does, then for this alone I will continue with the programme.

Food Diary:

Breakfast: Chocolate Shake it, with Vita +

Lunch: Chappatis and mixed vegetables with cottage cheese.

Dinner: Chicken puff pastry with home made salad.

Measurements will be in on Monday – I don’t know if there will be a dramatic change, but I kinda see a bit of a change in my face…..which is a good thing 🙂

For now I wish you all a Happy New Year.

“The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written. We can help write that story by setting goals.” – I know I will be.

Day 10 – Midweek Blues

Today wasn’t a good day.

I woke up fully intending to work out – but that didn’t happen…

Lemon water woke up my system (I’m not sure if this should be warm or not…..I’ve been having it with cold water, but have been told its good to have it warm…)

Shake’d it up with a banana and my Vita + followed. And then I went out.

Now usually if I go out, I anticipate a late lunch when I get home, so I take my ‘Go’ with the shake. Today I decided to take my ‘Go’ with me and if I had lunch i’d be prepared.

That didn’t happen, there was no lunch, thus I didn’t take the ‘Go’ until about 5pm with half a banana.  It wasn’t too bad, and I wasn’t really starving. Ive noticed that I can have a cup of tea and feel full for a long time.

Dinner was Salmon, Chips and Vegetables – Nice and balanced 🙂

Quote of the day: “The only bad workout is the one that didn’t happen”

And on that note…..I think I’m going to do a workout before bed. Hopefully that’ll help me feel better.

Benevita Challenge Day 9 – Positivity

So the measurements are in (please see my other post)

Day 9 has been a good day, I feel energetic and have been putting together ideas for project work – which I would usually procrastinate about. (The perks of feeling good I think).

As usual I had my Shake this morning for breakfast with the Vita+. At lunch I had the Go with half a stuffed Aubergine and some roast Vegetables (leftovers from Christmas) I had a banana as a snack between lunch and dinner and……I remembered the RECOVER!!! (hence the featured Image) woohoo Dinner again was Aubergine and roast vegetables. Low calorie and healthy.

Exercise today was a walk, its been pretty cold but still felt good to get out walking I was fully frozen by the time I got home!

I’ve been looking into fitness challenges for next year, something like tough mudder – but maybe not as militant as I’m still a bit of a weakling.

My aim for this week is to get in some exercise (exclusive of the daily walks) and to try and cut out the bad food I keep sneaking. (I forgot to mention I had 3 jaffa cakes with a cup of tea dontjudgeme)

“Small changes can make a big difference.” – one thing at a time and I will reach my goal, the trick is to stay positive and keep working hard.
